NaNoWriMo 2022

Hello authors,

Are you stuck on a WIP like I've been for several years? Are you lacking all motivation to write because of your current WIP? Do you want to desperately finish your WIP? Me too!

Good news, National Novel Writing Month, AKA NaNoWriMo, is just around the corner. For those of you who are new, during the month of November, writers from all over the globe are joined together with the same goal in mind. Write 50,000 words in 30 days.

The best part is anyone can join. It doesn't matter if you're writing fantasy or an autobiography.

The official NaNoWriMo website offers a six week prep course that begins on September 19th and ends on October 30th. It takes you through all the steps needed to plot out your story and characters. I highly encourage this step as having a road map makes it much easier to write consistently.

 To get started:

Visit the official website here and sign up for free. This way you can keep track of your writing progress and find other authors near you. You also earn badges for writing, so keep updating your NaNo.

My story:

The story I'm working on The Archons Apprentice, has already been started over on Wattpad. I've already put around 20,000 words into in, but my overall goal is 80,000.

It's a dark fantasy romance that takes place in a land called Drevia. Here, every millennium, the Autarch of Drevia passes on His powers to the next heir.  During this time they are at their weakest, and require an apprentice to protect.

I'm going to be following the six week prep, starting with Develop a story idea. Even though I have my idea, I want to iron out all the wrinkles. Come back next week on September 19th when prep officiall starts!

Tubertown is a settlement located in Epren county, Farnsworth, Drevia. They are also known for their taverns, and festavals, which many gnomes travel to to experience their autumnal festival. The leader of the settlement, Ronver Thistlestamp, his highly exclusive in who he allows into the settlement, as he is still bitter that his daughter, Welli Thistlestamp, eloped with a Goliath last summer. Ever since then, he's been known to hunt and entrap anyone taller than a gnome that he happens across in his land.

Camp Nano Goals

November 2022 I joined NANOWRIMO and thousands of writers with a common goal of writing 50,000 words for a new novel. I'm proud to say that I finished with 51,000 words.  If writing 50,000 words seems daunting, but having a community of writers all working towards a common goal sounds amazing, then Camp NANOWRIMO is for you.  Camp Nano differs from NANOWRIMO in the rules and word count. For NANO, you have to write a minimum of 50k to win and recieve an sort of prizes and it has to be for a new story. For camp, you can choose your word count and it can be for one project or as many as you want.  NANO also only happens during the month of November and Camp happens twice a year in April and July.  This is my first year going to Camp, but I just know it will be great.  Now down to my goals. Overall I plan to write 20k words, which is about 667 words a day. But to get this done as quickly as I can, I want to write a scene one day, then the next day I'll go back, rere...

TAA Update: Outline Finished

To pants or to plot, that is the question. Now that I've taken on a massive writing project that is spanning well over seven months, I'm a firm believer in plotting.  As of today (fingers crossed), my outline for my (fingers crossed) debut novel. Its looking like it will be around 75,000 words and will be a young adult novel. I didn't plan to write a YA novel, but it turns out that's what my level of writing is and there's no shame in that. Improvement is always possible.  Over the next week, I'll be meticulously re-reading the outline for any inconsistencies or things that might need adjusting. Then when Camp Nano comes around on  April 1st, I'll start writing.
